What makes teams successful? Belbin's team roles are the most widely used method for categorizing the different personalities in a team. Belbin identifies 9 types of 'office personalities' based on their behavior in the workplace. When we compare Belbin's team roles with motivation theory, it becomes apparent that some of Belbin's types are based on the same underlying motivation: for example, the Implementer and the Completer Finisher exhibit characteristics of the blue drive (a desire for order, structure, reliability, and discipline).
